After the incident, police spoke to Bonner. He claimed that he got into a bar fight and that a person lit him on fire. After further investigation, police reviewed the bar security cameras, which showed that Bonner asked his friends to light him on fire.
He stood there as his friends poured a shot of "Bacardi 151" on his head and then, he put a match to his head, which ignited his head and face. His friends claimed that Bonner told them that they could set his face on fire. They laughed at him, and no one believed him. So he said that he will prove them wrong and he did it.
