NFF Goes Into Prayer Before The Final Squad For 2014 World Cup Is Announced

The first vice-president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has revealed that the football body is in prayer mode ahead of the announcement of the final squad for the 2014 World Cup by coach Stephen Keshi.

A few NFF officials are keen for the Big Boss to pick Ikechukwu Uche and Peter Odemwingie, who have hit a fine patch of form, but Keshi has been given a free rein to select his teams so far.

“The Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation is made up of technocrats and should be able to liaise with Stephen Keshi to come out with the best squad for Nigeria,” Umeh told Goal during Thursday’s unveiling of the new national team jerseys.

“Nigeria is blessed with an array of good footballers that could form a strong team to take on the world.

“So [the NFF] prays that let God give [Keshi] the wisdom to get the best players for the World Cup in Brazil.”

Umeh also charged the Super Eagles to put up a fine display at the World Cup, as a lot of investment has been made in the team.

“Our people say to whom much is given, much is expected. We expect our Super Eagles to reciprocate these kind gestures from the Nigeria Football Federation.

“Our prayer is first to have the day in our international friendly against Mexico. This anticipated victory will help to boost the morale of the players and we will have some confidence that we are going to do well in the 2014 World Cup.

“We hope that the new kits would inspire the team and spur them to do well in the World Cup,” Umeh said.

Guus Hiddink To Take Over As Hollands Coach After The 2014 World Cup In Brazil

Guus Hiddink has claimed that he will take over as coach of Holland after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Russia coach, previously handled the Dutch national team between 1994 and 1998. The 67-year-old has been out of work since last year, after he left Anzhi Makhachkala and has been acting as an advisor at PSV.

“I am working with the KNVB [Dutch football association] to create a coaching team around me. We will need a few days or maybe a couple of weeks,” he told NOS.

“It will be a great team. I will not be a free-wheeling coach. When I do something, I want to do it as well as I can. Otherwise I would not do it.”

Hiddink is expected to be assisted by Jaap Stam, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Chris Brown Has Being Diagnosed As Bi-Polar, Suffering From Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Chris Brown has been diagnosed as bi-polar, suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and self-medicating inappropriately. This was revealed during his last court appearance.

"Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD."

Chris was ordered to remain in treatment for two more months. His next hearing is set for April 23.

Wife Of The Foremost Nationalist , Bishop Emmanuel Bolanle Gbonigi Dies At Age 81

Mrs. Alice Ebun Gbonigi, wife of the foremost Nationalist, Bishop Emmanuel Bolanle Gbonigi [Retired] is dead.

The retired Anglican Bishop’s wife died in the morning of March 1st around 10.am at the age of 81 after battling with a protracted ailment.

The deceased illness was said to have become complicated since the past nine days, forcing the family to rush her to hospital where she was admitted for some days.

According to her first daughter, Omolara Gbonigi who spoke with reporters at Gbonigi’s residence in Oba-ile Estate, Akure North local government area of Ondo State said her mother was discharged three days ago after she was relieved of her illness.

She noted that they were hoping she would recover at home, but gave up the ghost despite their efforts.

Her words, “My mum was a strong woman. I think the sickness was due to her old age. She had been experiencing this sickness for the past two years but became worse nine days ago. We rushed her to the hospital and she was attended to by doctors.

“She was discharged three days ago hoping that she will be feeling better at home but to our surprise the sickness returned and became worse the night before her death. We were calling Doctors before she died in the morning [Saturday morning] around 10 am.

She said “I am going to miss a lot of things about her because we learnt a lot from her. She was very hardworking when she was still fit. My Mother always ensure she gets herself busy as she was always there to support my father.

“Anytime my mummy is not busy, that means she is not feeling too well. She was very honest and God fearing. I have been around taking care of her since she took ill and she died in my hand. I am going to miss her”

Baba Gbonigi refused to speak with pressmen, saying that he was not in the state of mind to speak on the death of his loving wife.

The retired Bishop only sat in his sitting room, receiving sympathizers who besieged his house.

Among the callers in his residence were the leader of Afenifere group, Pa’ Rueben Fasoranti, spiritual leaders, among others.

Bombs Go Off At A Football Viewing Centre On Saturday In Maiduguri

Twin explosions rocked a football viewing centre on Saturday, in Ajilari ward, Jere Council area of Maiduguri, killing many football fans in the Borno capital.

Unconfirmed reports say Boko Haram terrorists planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), at the viewing centre at Ajilari Railway Cross and they exploded around 6pm, causing mayhem, death and severe injuries.

A resident of Ajilari told Vanguard’s correspondent that, “Some suspected terrorists in two Toyota Hilux Pick Up vans, pretending to be firewood suppliers, detonated the bombs near the football viewing centre, resulting in loss of several lives.”

Singer & Producer Akon Set To Bring Electricity To Millions Of African Homes

Senegalese-American singer and producer, Akon is set to bring electricity to millions of African households, through a project tagged ‘Akon lighting Africa’ – aimed at redressing the problem of power in sub-Saharan Africa.

The project will provide electricity and promote energy sufficiency in the continent.

 “The lack of electricity is currently a major problem in Africa. A significant number of households in rural areas and even urban cities do not have access to electricity. This is a real obstacle to Africa’s Sustainable Development.” reads the website for the campaign.

The 40-year-old successful and influential musician is partnering with Azuri Technologies to support the installation of solar equipment in households, which will provide good access to better and stable electricity to the people.

 ”We are extremely pleased by the overwhelmingly positive response of government leaders to embrace a public-private partnership that aims to address access to power in sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative is given further validity and momentum based on the support of these nations and their executives and advisor,’ Akon disclosed in a statement.

The 40-year-old singer, who earlier went on a nine-country tour across Africa, has been meeting politicians in his native Senegal and other places including; Mali, Guinea, Gambia, Gabon and Burkina Faso to win their support for his campaign.

Akon had earlier told his fans on Twitter that his team is getting a great response from many of the leaders and that they are planning to keep up the momentum of the campaign.

Nollywood Actor Emeka Ike Sues Landlord For N2billion Over Property

Nollywood Actor/school Proprietor, Emeka Ike, who was recently thrown out of the building he rented for his St. Nicholas school is not giving up.

The embattled school proprietor is insisting that he is still in possession of the building and that the matter should not be treated like a national crisis.

You will recall that Emeka Ike was allegedly ejected from the building after he reportedly refused to pay his bedridden 87-year old Landlord for several years.

After been charged to court and ejected from the building,  Emeka in a new interview with NET disclosed that he will sue his Landlord for N2billion, confirming that he has moved his school to the Island.

4 Year Old Boy Kidnapped By Unknown Gunmen In Calabar, Cross River State

Unknown gunmen have abducted a 4-year-old boy, Effiong Edet at the Ekorinim area of Calabar, the Cross River State Capital.

The kidnappers reportedly raided the community in an Audi vehicle with a sealed registration number.

It was gathered that the men of the underworld invaded the community at about 8:30 pm last Wednesday while the local vigilante members, majority of whom are football lovers were carried away watching Chelsea match against Galasataray in the on-going European champions league.

The gang said to be specialist in the abduction of minors of Kindergarten and nursery school age, stormed Ikot Onim for a victim and upon arrival at the community, drove to Mr. Edet’s compound , Effiong’s father where they sighted the boy and his friends who were playing around the area while his mother was busy selling fried yam.

The gang at first attempted to whisk away a six-year old boy identified as Joseph, who overpowered them before they settled for Edet.

According to the father, “Since most able bodied residents of the area were busy watching the football match, there was no one to go after the kidnappers.

By the time we got to hear what had happened, the boys had gone far and besides, there was no available car to go after them,’ he lamented.

The matter, the father said was immediately reported at the State Housing Police Station, Calabar where the police demanded for the photograph of the 4-year-old child to enable them carry out their investigation, assuring Mr. Edet and his wife that the perpetrators will soon be brought to book.

No ransom had been demanded at the time of filing this report just as family sources said no contact had been established with the suspects.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey who confirmed the incident said the police authorities were on top of the situation to rescue the victim without any ransom.

It was learnt that the victim’s father is a worker who earns just N6, 000 per month as security officer.

P-Square Talk About The Idea Behind Their Family-Oriented Cartoon Series Titled The Alingos

Early in the week, Twin singing sensation, Psquare, introduced a family-oriented cartoon series titled The Alingos. The novel project is being produced by  P-Classic Entertainment, an entertainment company, owned by the P-Square brothers.

Explaining the idea behind the concept, Peter says the project is being conceptualised and produced in Nigeria with no foreign input whatsoever.

“We have relentlessly been working on this and unprecedented family-oriented animated series. Since our outfit seeks to produce television contents, animation, discover and groom young musicians, it was only natural that we announce our arrival with this project.

 It will initially run as a weekly web series and then on TV,” he boasts.

He adds that fans will get to watch the ‘Unlimited’ animated video as well as The Alingos (when it hits the screens) by first downloading the P-Square app (P2) due for release next week.

“The app will contain an archive of exclusive pictures of P-Square, gallery of latest musical videos, including all the videos from past albums, compilation of all P-Square’s songs, behind-the-scene videos and  awards. Other features include concert videos, tickets, events and tour dates as well as their flagship project The Alingos series,” he explains.

Last week, D’banj edited his Twitter bio and somehow, when he was done, his G.O.O.D music affiliation was off the bio.

Uncle Of President Goodluck Jonathan Kidnapped And N500Million Ransom Demanded

Abductors of Inengite Nitabai, the 70-year old uncle of President Goodluck Jonathan, have demanded a N500m ransom, Sahara Reporters report.

A security source said that the abductors threatened to kill him if the family fails to produce the money. The source also said the family had constituted a committee to evaluate the demand, establish negotiations with the abductors and facilitate his release.

He said the kidnappers had also warned against the involvement of security operatives in the matter.
"The kidnappers contacted the family four days after and demanded a whopping sum of N500m. It is believed that the family of the victim has begun negotiations with the kidnappers.

McDonalds has made a new golden arch enemy - a California man is suing the company for $1.5million... because he says he only got one napkin with his meal. Webster Lucas claims he was stiffed on napkins at the Mickey D's in Pacoima, CA on January 29th -- 

after ordering a Quarter Pounder Deluxe - and when he went up to the counter to ask for more, he was rudely rebuffed by the manager ... who insisted he already got some. A Couple have A Set of Twins & Triplets in One Year

Well, to clear the confusion ,Andy and his wife Sarah were trying to have a baby for three years, until the doctor told them that they could not have children.

They were also informed that the treatment would cost them in the range of $60,000, however the chances of Sarah getting pregnant was only 10 per cent.

The couple decided against the treatment and went ahead and adopted the triplets. 

While the triplets were in the neo-natal unit, Sarah became pregnant and gave birth to twins when the triplets were only 8 months old.

The couple is very excited with their big family and is being helped with childcare and meals from their close-knit community.
